England v Fiji Match Reports
Fiji celebrated a first ever victory over England with a 30-22 win at Twickenham in a World Cup warm-up match. England started brightly and scored a try with Jonny May diving over in the corner inside 10 minutes. Heavy rain then caused errors to creep into the match and the first half ended 8-3 to England. After the break, Waisea Nayacalevu scored a try which saw Fiji take the lead. Vinaya Habosi then extended that lead with a well taken try in the 52nd minute. Marcus Smith pulled a try back for England when he ran onto a George Ford chip over the top and scored under the posts. Caleb Muntz kept the scoreboard ticking over for Fiji with his third penalty kick. Joe Marchant sneaked into the corner in the 68th minute and George Ford converted to cut Fiji's lead to just one point. Simione Kuruvoli scored Fiji's third try a few minutes later to restore an eight-point lead, which the South Sea Islanders bravely defended to record a famous victory.
