Wales defeated England 20-9 in their first World Cup warm-up match of the summer series in Cardiff. A fast and physical first half failed to produce a try with England taking a 9-6 half-time lead through penalty kicks. After the break, Wales took the lead when Gareth Davies finished a well-worked try in the 48th minute. George North extended that lead when he crossed under the posts just before the hour mark. Louis Rees-Zammit was denied a try by a very fine margin as Wales continued to dominate the second half.
