Scotland v Argentina Match Reports

Argentina staged an incredible second-half comeback from 21-0 down to beat Scotland 33-24 at Murrayfield. Scotland were the more clinical side in an open first half, with tries from Jack Dempsey and Ewan Ashman to show for their efforts. Argentina had their chances but they couldn't break the Scottish defence as the first half ended 14-0 to the hosts. After the break, Ashman completed his brace as Scotland extended their lead. Felipe Contepomi then made several substitutes in an attempt to reboot his misfiring Pumas side. Argentina finally got points on the board when Julian Montoya squeezed over in the 57th minute, followed by Rodrigo Isgro a few minutes later. Finn Russell added a penalty to steady the ship for Scotland, but momentum had clearly shifted. With 10 minutes to play, Pedro Rubiolo crashed over to bring Argentina within five points, before Pablo Matera grounded under the posts and Santiago Carreras converted to give the Pumas a dramatic late lead. Justo Piccardo capped a remarkable fightback with a fifth try, leaving a shell-shocked Scotland to reflect on a match that slipped away. A selection of match reports is listed below:
