Australia v Wales Match Reports
Wales won a tense encounter with Australia 29-25 at the Tokyo Stadium to take control of Pool D. Wales led from the first minute after Dan Biggar kicked a quick drop-goal. Tries from Hadleigh Parkes and Gareth Davies then helped Wales build a 23-8 half-time lead. Australia came out much stronger in the second half and scored two tries through Dane Haylett-Petty and Michael Hooper to add to Adam Ashley-Cooper's first-half effort. That closed the gap on the scoreboard to just one point, but Rhys Patchell kicked a penalty inside the final 10 minutes and Wales clung on to their lead to record a well-deserved victory over the Wallabies.
