Fourteen-man Ireland beat Samoa 47-5 in Fukuoka to book a place in the World Cup quarter-finals. Ireland started the match strongly and scored three tries in the first quarter to build a healthy lead. Bundee Aki was sent off for a dangerous tackle in the 29th minute leaving Ireland to re-organise. Johnny Sexton scored his side's fourth try just before half-time to secure a bonus-point.
