Scotland lock Scott Cummings will only miss Saturday’s match against Portugal following his 20-minute red card for a dangerous clear-out of a ruck against South Africa on Sunday.
The Glasgow second-rower appeared before an independent disciplinary committee via video link and after accepting his foul play justified the red card, the low-range entry point of a two-week suspension was reduced to one week based on “an exemplary disciplinary record, good conduct and having shown remorse”.
It means Cummings, who would probably have been rested this Saturday in any case, will be free to face Australia in Scotland’s fourth and final Autumn Test the following weekend.
