The Lions secured a 27-19 victory in the opening Test against Australia in Brisbane. The Lions dominated the first half with tries from Sione Tuipulotu and Tom Curry, both converted by Finn Russell, who also slotted a penalty. The Wallabies struggled to gain a foothold, although a try from Max Jorgensen did offer the hosts a glimmer of hope. At the break, the Lions led 17-5. Dan Sheehan added a third try for the Lions early in the second half to extend that lead. The Wallabies started to gain some momentum around the hour mark, and Carlo Tizzano got a much-needed try in the 68th minute, which Ben Donaldson converted. But Marcus Smith kicked a penalty soon afterwards to restore a three-score buffer for the tourists.
