An explosive first half saw the Wallabies race into a 23-5 lead with a dominant opening display, before the Lions clawed their way back into the contest. James Slipper, Jake Gordon and Tom Wright all crossed for Australia, while Dan Sheehan, Tom Curry and Huw Jones replied for the Lions. The tourists trailed 23-17 at the end of a pulsating first half. Tom Lynagh added a third penalty early in the second half to extend Australia's lead.
